Webinar: Internet of Things & Big Data

This webcast looks at the Internet of Things, and what financial firms need to understand in order to capitalise on the phenomena while avoiding potential pitfalls.

The Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data are connected. Billions of internet-connected devices will generate huge amounts of data. Organisations need to hone in on ‘target-rich data’ that is easy to access, available in real time, has an impact on the business and can cause meaningful change.

The amount of data was big before IoT, but now there will be predictive maintenance, loss prevention, disaster planning and recovery, energy-usage optimisation and device performance effectiveness stemming from IoT, which means a great deal more data and a different look at a firm’s infrastructure.

Financial institutions are justifiably cautious due to the risk, but big data analytics and cloud accessibility - and perhaps even deploying a data lake - must be completed before IoT can be implemented on a large scale (firm wide).
