NexusGuard, the leader in premium DDoS mitigation, has released a statement to condemn the practice of censoring and inhibiting free speech on the Internet. In light of recent attacks on a Hong Kong-based media outlet, NexusGuard reiterates its mission to “enable the Internet the way it’s meant to be.”

The media outlet’s websites were taken down by a DDoS attack that commanded 20 Gbps of malicious traffic at its peak, with more than 40,000,000 queries hitting the servers per second. With the stroke of a keyboard, the attackers had disrupted access to information for 2 million daily visitors.

NexusGuard researcher Frank Tse thinks the Internet should remain free, open and always available, saying, “we fully support the notion that online content and online activities must remain available and accessible to all members of the human population, at all times and in all places.”
