It’s hard to believe, but summer is winding down, and the school year is starting up. It is a time for teachers to review; go over concepts from the previous year to re-establish a foundation for building new knowledge and experience. The perfect time of year to cover the ABCs of Global Capacity’s One Marketplace and how this award winning marketplace of networks addresses the inherent challenge of simplifying the buying of connectivity services.  To truly understand how Global Capacity delivers on the promise of simple connectivity, you must first understand the marketplace model.

What is a Marketplace?

A marketplace works by providing transparent information to buyers and sellers in the trade arena and allowing them to connect and complete transactions based on their needs. In a Marketplace, both buyers and sellers can see the entire market landscape, and therefore they are able to make informed pricing and purchasing decisions.

marketplace 101

Online marketplaces connecting buyers and sellers are not new.  In fact you may even use one today. Expedia, for example, from one site, after entering one destination, connects travelers to a myriad of options for hotel accommodations, car rentals, airline flights and more. Another hot marketplace you may be familiar with is Uber, which allows any member to arrange car pickup from their current location, identified by GPS, from an available nearby driver. Revolutionizing the way taxi and black car rides find drivers efficiently and cost effectively.

Simply put, a marketplace disrupts “business as usual”, is efficient, and offloads transactional processes done by people to simplify the connection of buyers and sellers and delivering services.  Why not apply this same simplicity and experience to the fragmented connectivity market?

Next week we will talk about what a marketplace means, and doesn’t mean for the customer experience for Network Services and Business Connectivity.
