In late October 2012, Hurricane Sandy severely damaged the US Eastern seaboard, including New Jersey and New York City. Over the course of the hurricane’s transit, half of Manhattan lost power, including the majority of the Wall Street financial services district, which was heavily flooded. Public transportation was shut down and the exchanges were closed for two full days, forcing people to either work from home or not at all. Options’ selected data centers maintained power and connectivity throughout the storm.
