Business Challenge

Benchmark was using two separate, off-the-shelf solutions, which were standardized for the construction industry with limited customization. Combining the two applications was always a challenge. The main application consisted of a desktop package and hosted most of Benchmark’s contract information. As the case with majority of desktop solutions, Benchmark often experiences issues around patches and updates. The second application was web-based, which eliminated the typical desktop issues, but created additional permission and data entry issues.

In addition, even with two systems, due to the limited customization, Benchmark wasn’t able to store all their required data. This meant that some data was stored outside both systems which complicated reporting and sometimes service delivery.

The Benchmark team also ended up spending a considerable amount of time navigating through the applications, re-entering and re-selecting job specifics, since the solutions could not always store and re-produce data and selections from one screen to the next.

The flaws in the solutions ultimately impacted business productivity and Benchmark reached out to Nimbo for assistance.
