The Neutral Internet Exchange (NL-ix) today announces the launch of its 100GE Wide Area Distributed Internet Exchange. NL-ix is the first Internet Exchange offering 100GE ports in a Wide Area Network setting (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Frankfurt, Duesseldorf, London, Paris, Brussels, Antwerp and Luxembourg). 100GE ports are ready to order immediately.

*This upgrade is an important result of the continuous fast growing data traffic, mainly caused by growth of video traffic over the Internet and cloud services, more and more IP networks are reaching their boundaries with 10GE ports,* says Jan Hoogenboom, CEO of NL-ix. *Due to the technical readiness of the current market, it is now the right moment to introduce 100GE port capacity on our platform.*

In 2013, already two NL-ix 100GE ports are in use and NL-ix CEO Jan Hoogenboom expects more to follow: *A 100GE port connection offers significant advantages; it is easier to manage and it reduces the cost per Mbps making peering even more cost efficient than IP transit.*

NL-ix has more than 380 members and covers 6 countries, making NL-ix the largest Distributed Internet Exchange in Europe. With over 10 years of operating experience, NL-ix brings next generation technologies to IP networks that require neutral peering across Europe.

NL-ix is specialized in Internet Exchange services, 'Mission Critical Internet' solutions, and services in and between Carrier Neutral datacenters.
