On 08 July 2015 - FPT Corporation officially became the first foreign enterprise to be granted Network Facilities Service Individual license – NFS(I) by Myanmar - Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The license is valid for 15 years and takes effect from 06 July 2015.

With this license, FPT is allowed to build a national axis infrastructure, creating a firm step for promoting Internet services in Myanmar. FPT can also provide local and international telecommunication services as well as build, deploy, maintain and lease telecommunication infrastructure; and supply other value-added services on the network basis, including Internet protocol television, online game, e-news, e-commerce, domain and hosting.

There are six large Myanmar’s domestic firms receiving NFS(I) licenses. FPT is the first 100% foreign-owned company to receive the license from the Myanmar Government.

“Our capability and experience in providing telecom services in developing countries such as Cambodia and Vietnam and long-term investment commitment helped FPT get the license”, said Mr. Duong Dung Trieu, FPT’s Vice General Director of Global Expansion.

The license for telecom services in Myanmar is important to the development of FPT in this market and its strategy of global expansion. It will build a foundation for the Corp to provide other services such as software and integrated system services, education, and e-government in that market.

With a population of 56 million and low-quality Internet service, Myanmar is considered a promising land for IT and telecom firms inside and outside the country. According to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Myanmar's economy will achieve an average growth rate of 9.5% annually by 2030.

Myanmar is one of the important markets in FPT’s strategy for overseas expansion. In February 2013, the Corp opened its representative office before establishing FPT Myanmar Co. Ltd. in the country in July.

FPT Myanmar now has 60 employees, including 35 local staff. Its turnover reached USD 13.5 million last year.
